PREPARATIONS FOR BALI PINK RIBBON 10th ANNUAL 5KM FUN WALK & RUN

Denpasar, September 2018…. Yayasan Pita Merah Muda Bali, or better known as Bali Pink Ribbon (BPR), has officially launched registration and fundraising for the 10th Annual 5KM Fun Walk and Run. The event will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 in ITDC area Nusa Dua. The Walk provides BPR with significant funds to support grants to local health care providers who provide life-saving breast health services to those most in need.

“I am proud of our achievements in the last 10 years, starting off as a more or less voluntary organization, on the small Indonesian island of Bali and still strongly dedicated to educate and motivate about breast cancer awareness,” says Gaye Warren, founder of Bali Pink Ribbon. “While we are proud of our achievement, we still have many goals we want to reach these coming years, among them to purchase another mobile USG, set up a Rumah Singgah for breast cancer patients in treatment and source a minibus for transporting patients and doctors.”

Participants can walk, jog, run, volunteer or donate to help BPR save lives and provide critical care and support. Activities include free breast screening for participants, food trucks, market stall, live music entertainment, and memorial line. Great prizes are available for grabs, main prize one Kawasaki trail motorbike, cash prize and vouchers for best costume. Tickets are sold at 200K for run, including BIB, t-shirt and medal, and 150K for walk including BIB and t-shirt.

Bali Pink Ribbon has, for the last 10 years, brought a hugely positive change for the women and families of Bali. Through media campaigns, organised screenings and outreach programs they have lifted the awareness of breast cancer on the island, even to Bali’s far-off rural areas. The Bali Pink Ribbon Fun Walk and Run, which they have been doing since 2009, is held in in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Founder of the organisation, Mrs Gaye Warren, a breast cancer survivor herself, was inspired by the Pink Ribbon Walks found in the UK where she hails from, and thus started a similar event here in sunny Bali.

Bali Pink Ribbon Walk 2018 is presented by official medical partner Prima Medika Hospital, and Pink Tea Committee, Discovery Kartika Plaza, ITDC, The Nusa Dua, Duta Intika – Kawasaki, Ardesy, and Cleo.

Local area sponsors are Blibli.com, Kevala ceramics, Desa Visesa Ubud, Hotel Indigo Seminyak, Cocoon Medical Spa, Melia Bali, Anantara Resort Seminyak, LorIn New Kuta Hotel, Finns Beach Club, Sensatia Botanica, Brave.co.id, Bali Brochure, Prime Biz Kuta, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua, Bali Zoo, Plaga Wines, Jimbarun, The Samata Sanur, Lifestyle retreats, The Menjangan, Rheto and The Edge Resort among others, and media support from Now!Bali and Bali Advertiser.

About Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation:

BPR is a volunteer organization working with Indonesian and Singaporean doctors that provides seminars on breast cancer to women across Bali, in companies and villages, providing valuable knowledge and understanding of breast health. The foundation can also arrange for breast screening as it strongly believes that early detection of any changes in breast health saves lives. BPR also has a support center in Denpasar providing a safe place for women to share their experiences of breast cancer with other survivors and those undergoing treatment. Bimonthly survivor meetings and seminars are held at the center, where information on living with and treating breast cancer is available in Indonesian and English. www.balipinkribbon.com
